ABOUT THIS COURSE

Join us in Mount Kisco on Wednesday evenings for a step-by-step journey following the path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha, and expertly transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time. In this series of classes, we will explore important Buddhist topics such as the life of the Buddha, the types, techniques and stages of meditation, the development of ego, working with emotions, karma, and so forth. The exploration will be in a sequential manner and will reflect the experience of the practitioner. Readings for each class will be drawn from a wide variety of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings.

This series is recommended for both beginning and returning practitioners. Please note that class meetings are always open to all at any point in the sequence. Each class will begin with 45 minutes of meditation, followed by a talk and then discussion.

A printed sourcebook of carefully selected readings from Trungpa Rinpoche’s many books will be provided (a digital version will be posted online), and readings for each individual class will be available online in advance for those dropping in.

The courses are designed to benefit participants whether or not they can attend regularly. Those who can attend consistently and keep up with the readings will gain a detailed appreciation of the natural progressive evolution that the Tibetan Buddhist path depicts. As always, audio recordings of the talks will be made available online for anyone wanting to catch up. We will continue to offer occasional extended open meditation evenings, with no formal dharma talk, in between course segments.
