We have now completed our programming as WBC. However, note that John’s Tuesday night course will continue and be hosted by John’s new organization; he is taking a break for August and will then resume September 1. We were very happy to be able to continue our work virtually during this time of quarantine. I know it has been a rough ride for many of us during our isolation, the devastating news of this horrible virus, our crumbling economy, and the racial unrest in our country. Please be sure to take time out for self-care during this time.

We are now working on our plans for the two new organizations that WBC will transition into.

Join meditation teachers Jane and Derek Kolleeny for a three-day Learn to Meditate retreat at Garrison Institute, New York from August 21-23, 2020. This in-person retreat in upstate New York will focus on the practice of meditation, appealing to new meditators, those with a developed practice, and those simply seeking renewal in the serenity of a contemplative environment.

Dear Westchester Buddhist Community,

We hope you are all healthy and enduring this period of quarantine as best as can be expected. We wanted to inform you of some changes to the Westchester Buddhist Center (WBC).

The founders and senior teachers of WBC, John Baker, Derek and Jane Kolleeny, together with Genie Bobker, who joined our team as a senior teacher when we moved locations from Bedford to Irvington, NY, have mutually agreed to dissolve the WBC organization and go our separate ways due to differences in approaches to curriculum, presentation style and communication. This is a mutual decision and we are moving forward amicably in all ways.
