"An Exploration of the Depth and Variety of Meditation Experience"
Westchester Buddhist Center's retreat February 10-17th 2017 at Garrison Institute will focus on the dynamics of meditation practice – what it is, what are its main varieties, how each of them functions and how each can serve as a means for understanding and transforming our minds.
The retreat will be led by John Baker, Jane Kolleeny and Derek Kolleeny, all of whom are experienced dharma teachers, authorized by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the Kagyu-Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
Are you interested or involved in bringing mindfulness and/or meditation to the school or workplace? If so, we would like to invite you to participate in a group conversation on this subject. We will meet on a Sunday afternoon at our meditation center at the Eileen Fisher corporate offices in Irvington.

The Chronicles is a celebration of Trungpa Rinpoche’s life and teachings. At its core, the Chronicles is an oral history project, recording the recollections of his students and others who knew him. It is also a forum for news, tributes, articles and interviews that trace his legacy and influences into the current era. The Chronicles serves the students of Trungpa Rinpoche, members of the extended Shambhala community, students of the many authentic Buddhist masters currently teaching in the West, and people who are inspired by his life and teachings for a wide variety of reasons. This all-inclusive, or pan-sangha, is Trungpa Rinpoche's extended community of students. Just as Padmasambhava is the essential guru for almost all Tibetans, Trungpa Rinpoche fulfills that role for a growing number of dharma practitioners in the West.

The mission of Ocean, the Vast Teachings of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, is to further the study and practice of Chögyam Trungpa’s teachings, and to nurture a community of old and new students alike. Ocean provides both introductory classes and a broad curriculum of in depth learning, drawing from all aspects of Chögyam Trungpa’s teachings, and is creating a network of support for all levels of dharma practice, and collaborating with the variety of other initiatives by Chögyam Trungpa’s students furthering his teachings. Starting September 14th, we will have the customary Dharma Gathering format for three weeks running — now called BuddhaDharma Sangha, from 7 to 9 pm in Mt. Kisco. Then in October and into November, “How to Meditate - Part 2” will meet at 7:50, so our open meditation will end by 7:45 pm to allow for that.

It is a public talk by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, a wonderful Tibetan teacher whom we have hosted in the past and with whom we have a deep “family lineage” connection through our teacher, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and Mingyur Rinpoche’s father, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Mingyur Rinpoche is also the brother of another teacher we have hosted, Tsoknyi Rinpoche.

Westchester Buddhist Center (WBC) is excited to be joining with the Mt. Kisco Center for Health & Healing (CFHH) to convene a monthly sitting group! Sessions will include meditation instruction for those new to the practice, meditation practice, and a short presentation on Buddhist meditation and insight, followed by discussion and refreshments. Sessions will be lead by Derek Kolleeny.
WBC Northern Sitting Meditation Group at Lake Katonah Club meet every Monday evening at 7pm. Meditation instruction available.
